About Notenschlüsselrechner

Notenschlüsselrechner is a free online tool that converts exam points into German grades from 1 to 6. It is aimed at teachers in German schools, apprentices and trainers in vocational training. No sign-up is required to use it.

Teachers can create a linear grading key or an IHK 100-point scale, or set individual limits with a slider. The teacher mode also builds a grade overview with average and median for a class, and the table can be exported as PDF or Excel, printed or copied. Class data is kept locally in the browser.

Students can enter their achieved and maximum points to see their grade and percentage, and a reverse calculator shows the minimum points needed for a target grade. The site also has reference tables for common point totals and state-specific guidance for all 16 German federal states.
