HippoSplit is built for friends, families, roommates and travelers who share costs and want to skip the spreadsheet. Expenses are logged inside a group chat, so you can type a message, snap a receipt or drop in a batch of photos and let the app pull out items, amounts and currencies.
Each group can split bills equally, by item, by custom amount, by percentage or by shares, and it converts across more than 150 currencies using live exchange rates. Members can see running balances and a simplified settlement plan, and guests can join through a shared link without creating an account.
A free plan covers unlimited expense entries, splitting and settlements, with a weekly allowance of AI scans. A premium tier adds unlimited scanning, advanced reports and search for groups that track spending closely. The site says user financial data is encrypted and is not sold or used for ads.
