About earth.

earth. is an interactive web experience for anyone curious about the planet, from students and teachers to science enthusiasts. It presents a 3D globe that can be dragged to orbit and a timeline that lets visitors scroll through 4.54 billion years of Earth history.

The timeline marks key moments such as the formation of the planet, the first oceans, the rise of oxygen, Snowball Earth, the assembly of Pangaea and the world as it looks today. A Play the story button runs through the sequence automatically, and playback speed can be adjusted. Viewing modes include Natural, After dark and Blue hour, and the page shows the coordinates of the current orbital perspective.

Beyond the main view, the site offers separate sections on civilization, orbit, the Moon, earthquakes, oceans, the solar system and air traffic. It credits its data, imagery and science sources, links to a GitHub repository and is created by Ethan. The globe needs a browser with WebGL enabled.
