Automatically manage YouTube captions in Chrome
About subtitle.im
subtitle.im is a Chrome extension for people who watch YouTube with captions sometimes and without them at other times. It turns existing YouTube captions on or off for each video, following YouTube's own settings, a global preference, or rules for a channel or a single video.
Its main difference is handling of burned-in subtitles. The extension recognizes subtitle text inside video frames locally in the browser, without uploading frames to a server, and can close duplicate YouTube captions when they overlap with subtitles already on screen. When the two use different languages, it can close the captions automatically, ask first, or keep them. Manual CC changes apply only to the current viewing.
A free tier covers 10 handled videos with no sign-up, and a Pro subscription or lifetime license unlocks unlimited videos along with channel and per-video rules.
