Recline

About Recline

Recline is a community platform for creators who want their members to have a private place to talk and belong. Channel text is encrypted in the browser with AES-GCM-256 and direct messages use ECDH P-256, so the server only stores ciphertext. Basic chat signup needs only a username and password, with no email or phone number.

Creators can set up their own spaces with custom roles, permissions, invite links and moderation tools. A Sparks economy rewards members for daily logins and lets them tip creators, send animated messages or post server-wide announcements, with creator-support features still being evaluated during the open beta.

Recline positions itself as an alternative to Discord and Patreon, focusing on creator ownership and encrypted conversations. It is an independently built, self-funded project with an open-source client on GitHub. The team notes that it has not had an independent security audit yet, and voice and video calls use WebRTC.
