About Phonecall
Phonecall is a browser-based calling service for people who need to phone abroad without a local SIM, a contract or a downloaded app. It targets travelers and remote workers who want to call hotels, clinics or relatives in other countries from a regular browser tab.
You sign in with Google or email, top up a small balance and dial any landline or mobile number. Calls are billed by the second against per-minute rates that are shown before each call, and the balance does not expire. Users can also rent a US or Canadian number for a monthly fee to receive calls and texts, and verify their own phone number so recipients see a familiar caller ID.
What sets it apart is the lack of setup: there is no subscription and no auto-recharge unless it is switched on. The first 30 seconds of a call are free on sign-up, and the service is powered by Twilio with encrypted audio in transit.
