The Prisma ORM is open source and free, and its schema file serves as a shared contract for the data layer. Prisma Postgres has a free tier that needs no credit card, with spend limits on paid plans. Prisma Compute hosts Node.js, Bun and Next.js apps beside the database, and a CLI and API let an agent deploy, read logs and redeploy.
The platform suits teams that want fewer vendors and a more predictable bill. Each feature branch can get its own preview database, and Prisma Studio provides a visual data browser for inspecting and editing records. The pieces are designed to work together instead of being stitched together from separate services.
