About Jam SQL Studio
Jam SQL Studio is a desktop SQL editor for developers and DBAs who work across several database engines. It covers SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle and SQLite in one app, with IntelliSense, visual execution plans, schema and data compare, notebooks, and built-in charting. It is aimed at teams moving off Azure Data Studio, which Microsoft has retired.
The app also exposes a local MCP server so AI coding assistants such as Claude Code can read schema and run queries under controlled policies. It writes context files like CLAUDE.md into an AI workspace, and it includes an in-app Claude Code chat. AI features are opt-in, the MCP server binds to localhost, and writes need approval in confirm mode.
The desktop app runs on Mac, Windows and Linux and is free for personal use without an account. Pro features are offered as a 14-day trial after sign-in, according to the site.
