About Capslane
Capslane is a YouTube transcript API for developers who need captions from public videos in a predictable format. It pulls native captions in multiple languages and returns them as plain text or timestamped segments in JSON.
When a video has no captions, Capslane can generate a transcript with AI instead. Longer videos run as asynchronous jobs, and the same response contract applies to both native and generated results, so integration code stays the same.
The API comes with workspace API keys, request history, monthly usage limits and a shared transcript cache. Plans start with a free tier of 50 requests per month, and the site includes an inspector for tracking request status and latency.
