About TonesMatch
TonesMatch is for guitarists and bass players who want to recreate a famous recording on the rig they already own. You type a song, and it returns amp settings, pickup position and a pedal chain for that tone.
Each target tone starts from research into the original gear, drawn from studio session notes, rig rundowns and guitar communities. The site then recalculates the settings for your specific guitar, amp and pedals, using the controls your amp actually has, such as its gain range, EQ voicing and built-in effects. Pickup type and cabinet voicing are also taken into account.
The difference from asking a general AI is that TonesMatch works from a database of profiled guitars, amps and pedals, so it aims to suggest only controls that exist on your gear. Browsing songs is free, and the site offers paid plans for more adaptations and saved presets.
