About Photo2Text
Photo2Text is a free online OCR tool for people who need text from a photo, screenshot or scan without uploading the image to a server. Users pick a language, drop in a JPG, PNG or WebP file under about 10MB, click Extract Text and then review and copy the result or download it as a plain text file.
The tool runs the open-source Tesseract engine in the browser through Tesseract.js, so the image stays on the user's device and no account is needed. English is offered on the homepage, with dedicated Urdu and Arabic pages that load the matching script models. The site describes its accuracy as best-effort and notes that clear, well-lit, high-resolution images give the best results.
It suits students, office workers, shop owners and support staff who want to copy printed text rather than retype it. Handwriting, decorative fonts and low-resolution images are not well suited to it.
