xpenser
Self-hostable personal finance tracker with API and MCP access

About xpenser
xpenser is an open-source personal finance tracker for people who want to record and analyze income and expenses with dashboards, categories, vendors and reports. It suits individuals who want their money data in an app they can inspect, extend or run on their own servers.
The app supports income, expenses, refunds and returns, with multiple transaction currencies converted to a default currency using Frankfurter rates. Users can review daily to yearly summaries, compare periods and receive optional weekly or monthly email insights. A Telegram bot and a Telegram-linked workflow sit alongside the web interface.
What sets it apart is the integration layer. xpenser publishes OpenAPI docs, supports API keys and a typed client, and offers an MCP endpoint so AI agents can read and manage vendors, categories and transactions. It is also a working reference app for the Cleverbrush Framework, and the project is MIT licensed and still early.
