About RemoveBackgroundGIF

RemoveBackgroundGIF is a free web tool for people who need a transparent animated GIF, such as sticker makers, creators working with mascots, and anyone with green-screen clips. Upload a GIF or paste one from the clipboard, and the tool removes the background from every frame while keeping the original timing so the animation plays as it did before.

The tool offers two methods. A color key samples the background color, usually the corner pixels, and removes it across all frames. It runs locally in the browser, so files are not uploaded. For gradients, shadows or photo backgrounds, an AI cutout handles subject detection and sends each frame to a processing API, where nothing is stored. Edge controls such as tolerance, edge shrink and a matte help clean up halos.

The site states that there is no sign up, no watermark and no export limit, with support for up to 1,000 frames and 50 MB per file. Exports include a transparent GIF, an APNG with soft edges, or a ZIP of PNG frames.
