Klar
On-device AI spam filter for Apple Mail on macOS
About Klar
Klar is an AI spam filter for people who read their email in Apple Mail on a Mac. It is aimed at anyone whose inbox is full of junk and who wants that cleaned up without handing their messages to a third party.
The filtering model runs locally on the Mac, so messages never leave the machine, and the app needs no account to start. It is positioned as free forever and works with iCloud, Gmail, Outlook and other IMAP accounts. The site also mentions a newer option for filtering spam on a self-hosted Stalwart mail server.
What sets Klar apart is its privacy-first approach: the spam check happens on your own hardware rather than in a cloud service. It requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, and it is distributed through the Mac App Store.
