Formula Foundry is an add-on for Excel and Google Sheets that replaces the cramped native formula bar with a proper code-style editor. It is aimed at data analysts, finance professionals and other heavy spreadsheet users who spend their days writing and maintaining long, nested formulas.

The editor supports multi-line formulas with syntax highlighting, auto-indentation and dark mode. Global @@variables let users define a value once and reuse it across many formulas, so a change such as a tax rate updates everywhere. A snippet library stores reusable logic, and an AI assistant can generate formulas, suggest simplifications and help debug existing ones. The add-on also translates formulas between Excel and Sheets, and the site lists a visual builder and multi-tab editing.

What sets it apart is that it works as a dedicated formula workspace inside the spreadsheet rather than a general chatbot. The site compares it with Gemini in Sheets and Copilot in Excel on editing, variables, shared snippets and translation. A free plan is available without a credit card, and a live editor can be tried without signing up.
