About Court Rules

Court Rules is a searchable database of the standing orders, individual practices and local rules that federal and state judges publish. It is built for lawyers and legal teams who need to check requirements such as page limits, courtesy copies, pre-motion letters, and sealing and redaction procedures before they file.

Users can search by judge, court or rule topic, or ask a question about a particular judge's rules. Each result quotes the rule and links to the page of the court's own document it came from, so it can be verified. Rules can also be compared by topic across courts and judges. The site is free to use and does not require sign-up, and it notes that its content is not legal advice.

Beyond rules, the site offers a deadline calculator for court days and business days, federal and state court holiday calendars, and a tracker of privacy fines and settlements by agency and violation. The same data is available to other software through an MCP server and a REST API, which lets AI assistants and custom tools use it.
