Barside
Free local-first desktop app for notes, tasks and meetings

About Barside
Barside is a free desktop app for people who want one place for their notes, tasks, reading, meetings and passwords instead of a stack of subscriptions. It is aimed at individuals and small teams who want to replace tools such as Notion, Slack, Zoom, Obsidian and Loom with a single app that lives on their computer.
The app covers notes with drawings, linked notes and a note map, plus a task board built from every checklist, calendar views, reminders, screen recording, clips, transcription and a built-in password manager. Reading and saved webpages are kept as local copies so they open offline. Paid communities called Spaces can host chat, meetings and files for members.
What sets it apart is that the library is stored on your computer and no account is needed to take notes, with cloud sync optional. AI is bring-your-own: you connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or OpenRouter, and agents ask for approval before they change anything outside the app.
