ArtCraft PhotoCraft
Free open-source Photoshop alternative that opens PSD files

About ArtCraft PhotoCraft
ArtCraft PhotoCraft is a free, open-source desktop image editor for designers and photographers who want a Photoshop-style workflow without a subscription. It is a clean-room reimplementation of Adobe Photoshop written in Rust, and it keeps the familiar menus, panels and keyboard shortcuts. Layered PSD and PSB files open and save without a conversion step.
Editing is non-destructive, with 16 adjustment layers, filters with live preview, smart objects, layer styles, masks, type, vector shapes and colour management with ICC profiles and soft proofing. The canvas is drawn on the GPU rather than in a web view, and selection tools such as Select Subject run on your own machine with no account required.
The project is still in early alpha, and its developers say it is not yet a full replacement for daily professional Photoshop work. Generative AI features are not included yet. The app runs on macOS, Windows, Linux and the web, and its source code is public on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 and MIT licences.
